The TruNutrition Sciences Trutein whey protein product is unheralded but it appears to be well received by its customer base. Undoubtedly, it’s not as popular as some other whey protein products like Optimum Nutrition or MusclePharm product offerings, but among its advocates there seems to be genuine enthusiasm for it.
Let’s now get into this review and product by TruNutrition Sciences and their Trutein protein supplement.
TruNutrition Sciences Features
As you may know, supplement fraud is rampant with most of the fraud due to inferior manufacturing processes and raw product utilization. Thus, many supplement manufacturers are opting to receive NSF Certified for Sport registered GMP (good manufacturing practices) certification (pharmaceutical cGMP compliance – this is the highest standard possible).
It appears that TruNutrition Sciences does not have this NSF Certified for Sport registration certification with its in-house manufacturing operation. This NSF certification is under the NSF International, The Public Health and Safety Company, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Program.
Does this mean that TruNutrition Sciences produces inferior products? No, it doesn’t. It is one element that they should seriously consider, though, as the supplement product space is so hyper-competitive. Plus, if they want to be seen as selling the best whey protein powder, they need to get this.
Let’s talk now about the nutrition aspect of the TruNutrition Sciences Trutein whey protein powder.
What are its core nutritional elements and ingredients? Trutein has the following:
- 24g Protein, 5g BCAAs (branched chain amino acids) and 4.6g Glutamine. This is for what Trunutrition Sciences will continuously feed the body for muscle creation.
To continuously fuel new muscle synthesis
- 100mg “Trusorb” Amino Acid Utilization Enzyme profile. Trunutrition says this helps to increase amino acid, nucleotide assimilation and “uptake”
- 2.5g Prebiotic Fiber Blend. Many whey protein powders are coming now with a probiotic or “prebiotic” blend to facilitate better digestion
Moreover, one of the distinguishing points of this product is the protein mix combination, which is 40% whey protein, 40% micellar casein, and 20% egg white protein.
There are some notable elements with their protein usage. Trutein uses the “isolate” forms of whey and micellar casein, which both come from cow’s milk protein isolate as opposed to the “concentrate” forms like most protein supplement manufacturers. These concentrates are less nutritionally pure, Trunutrition Sciences says.
Trunutrition Sciences says that “for every 100 grams of whey or milk protein, the isolate form yields over 90 grams of pure protein…the concentrate form yields only between 34 to 80 grams of pure protein with the remainder existing as fat and lactose. Isolates are also significantly pricier than concentrates. Trutein, as an ultra-premium protein supplement, maximizes its use of the superior isolate form…”
Moreover, one of its biggest claims to fame, as it were, is that this is a gluten-free whey protein powder. Plus, they also add Omega 3 to the powder mix. This, they say, helps to improve insulin sensitivity and to reduce inflammation due to strenuous bodybuilding workouts. This is uncommon with whey protein powders.
TrueNutrition Trutein comes in eight flavors including chocolate truffle, vanilla, cinnabun, pumpkin pie, chocolate-peanut butter cup, orange creamsicle, peach mango and banana cream. More are forthcoming, TruNutrition Sciences says. This is one of the draws of this product. Many praise its taste with its different options or custom protein powder mixes. It is also praised as high quality whey protein and as among the best tasting whey protein.
It comes in 5 pound (67 servings) and 2.5 pound (33 servings) options.

Does TruNutrition Sciences Offer a Guarantee?
Like most vendors, TruNutrition Sciences defers to the guarantee of the retailer, whether online or offline. That said, again like most vendors, if there is a serious problem with a product, they will seek to remedy it.
One of the reasons why I endorse Amazon is not only due to their outstanding customer service but due to their product guarantee, which you can read about here.
TruNutrition Sciences Trutein Consumer Reviews
Are there any customer complaints? Not really. The product has been well received. Below is a sample of the various reviews I’ve come across:
Taste is Grrrreat!

Pros: Taste is very nice and it seems to help me recover after a hard workout with the protein that my body needs. Best tasting protein ever.Cons: price is a little steep, come on TruNutrition help us out on the price! I did not wiegh it yet but the tub was only half full when I got it. I would really like to see a full tub of product for the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good product, not for my tastes
I usually like cinnabun flavors but this just didn’t work well with me. I’m sure that for other people it is really delicious.
- It has a good taste
- It’s fairly inexpensive compared to other protein powders
- It’s got a wide range of flavors
- It helps to build muscle
- It’s gluten-free
- It has Omega 3’s added to its ingredient mix
- It’s not very well known
- Has smaller container sizes (although 5 pound options is plenty for most people)
Where Can I Buy It?
You can buy the TruNutrition Sciences Trutein whey protein product here, but you are free to choose. Supplements are almost subjectively viewed. At the end of the day the results it produces is the one arbiter that determines its efficacy. Is this the best whey protein powder available on the market? That is debatable due to many reasons. It is a quality product to be sure and its acceptance in the marketplace is probably the best indicator as to its viability. I hope this TruNutrition Sciences Trutein whey protein review has been useful to you.
