VSL3 rocks
By book lover of Florida on June 24, 2010

This product is pricey, but totally worth it. I was suffering with some bad digestive problems, partially brought on by weakening digestion, antibiotics, etc. Having suffered greatly from candida- and digestion-related chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms at certain previous points in my life, I knew what to do. I tried some refrigerated capsule probiotics from the health food store, which looked quite powerful (& also somewhat expensive). While somewhat effective, they had nowhere near the effect of VSL3, which is what my doctor recommended. After the second dose, I could already tell the difference. I was going from being afraid to eat (EVERYTHING made me feel sick an hour after I ate it), & not wanting to get out of bed in the morning (I work full time) to having more energy than before, within 2 weeks. If you have similar problems, I highly recommend this product, as well as digestive enzymes (several good brands are available from health food stores & maybe from Amazon), a fiber product made from psyllium seeds (Konsyl is a good one, available from most pharmacies over the counter), certain enzyme-containing foods that stimulate digestion, such as peppermint, ginger, pineapple, etc. & PLENTY of fresh vegetables & fruits, preferably organic and locally grown. Also REDUCE your sugar intake greatly, eliminate refined/processed starches, eliminate or greatly reduce red meat, eat meals during the day & no later than 7:00 since your enzymatic juices start declining later in the evening, esp. if you are over 40. I also am just eating LESS, eating only when hungry & foregoing that second portion. I don’t get as sleepy during the day, so I have been able to cut my overreliance on caffeine to keep myself going; too much caffeine can really be a gut irritant as well.

VSL#3 is a godsend!
By Evan Lanier on December 29, 2008

I can’t attest to whether this particular item is shipped correctly (refrigerated) because I purchase my VSL#3 direct; however, I do have to make a case for this amazing product. I’ve had GI issues ever since I was a young child — my gastroenterologist finally determined that I had small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and fructose malabsorption. He suggested I take VSL#3 to correct my bacterial imbalance and I am soooo glad he did.I don’t want to get too graphic, but just let me just say that my experience in the bathroom has dramatically improved for the better. I thought I would have to live with my GI issues forever and now I don’t.Yes, VSL#3 is very expensive and it is not covered by my insurance, but it is still very much worth it to me. I have tried both the packets and the capsules and find the packets to be more effective from a cost and efficacy standpoint.

Worked Like a Charm -Coming from a Skeptic
By Deem on August 17, 2011

My son suddenly began having diarrhea at age 2 which quickly developed into large amounts of blood in his stool, eventually leading to a week in the hospital and a blood transfusion. For the next year and a half, he was seen by his pediatrician, two allergists, and three top gastroenterologists. A full battery of tests (Stool Cultures, Upper endoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy, Meckel scan, exploratory laparoscopy, GI series with Barium, and skin & blood allergy tests) wound up being inconclusive, neither confirming, nor ruling out IBD. Flareups followed by brief periods of normal stools were the norm for 1.5 years. By March, 2011 We couldn’t take him off of Prednisone (a nightmare of a drug) and the GI was recommending that we add Asacol to the mix.Thank G-d we did our research and we saw the studies done with VSL and decided to give it a try. Keep in mind that I am a straightforward, logical, thinking person, not the koolaid drinking type. This is my first ever Amazon review. We used the powder form because my son was too young to swallow a pill. Within two days the blood stopped and within 1 week my son began to have normal stools. Since then we have gone 5 months without blood and his stools go back and forth between perfect and mushy, but rarely loose and rarely more than 1 to 2 movements a day. We weaned him completely off of Prednisone by early May 2011. He has also stopped complaining of pain, and we were finally able to toilet train him. Is this a miracle drug? Who knows? We can’t prove that VSL is what caused the improvement, but we believe it did. Obviously, our situation may be different than yours and you may see different results, but have you got to lose?——-A few things to note:1) We didn’t buy it through Amazon because I saw the reviews which told of the lack of refrigeration when purchased here. Just Google VSL and you can buy it straight from the Manufacturer.
2) We mixed it with grape juice. It doesn’t mix so well, but it does the job. Pour in a little bit at a time while mixing so it doesn’t clump (or just use the pills).
3) For the first night or two, my son woke up a few times during the night crying, possible due to bloating, but he wouldn’t say.
4) We prayed. A lot.

Are there any customer complaints? When the product ships, the ice it comes with tends to melt in the packet but other than that, customers seem happy with the product.

Where Can I Buy VSL 3?

sigma-tauYou can buy it here, but you are free to choose. Whether or not this is among the best probiotics supplement products is for you to choose, but it is certainly a player among them. It is well received by customers, made with exacting pharmaceutical standards and sells well.

Most importantly, it seems to work and work well — especially for those who have ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease. I think the Xtend-Life Kwi-Klenz is the best non-pharmaceutical probiotic even though it’s not a probiotic per se. Many think this VSL 3 is the best probiotic supplement and they may be right.

I hope this review of the VSL 3 probiotic supplement product has been helpful to you.
