Review of EAS Whey Protein Powder

Is EAS protein the best whey protein powder on the market? Part of the non-biased protein powder reviews that explores that very question.

Rating: 4 (out of 5)

It’s not difficult to find protein powders on the market but it is difficult to determine what is the best whey protein powder. To that end, this review was written.

So, welcome to this review of the EAS whey protein powder bodybuilding supplement product. I will discuss the pros and cons of this product and its core product features and benefits.

Without further adieu, let’s now get into this offering by EAS and their whey protein powder supplement.

Does EAS Have The Best Whey Protein on The Market?

There are many who are competing in the whey protein powder space. Among these are Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey, Gaspari Nutrition Myofusion Probiotic, MuscleTech Phase8, Larry Scott UltraPro, Douglas Laboratories Ultra Protein Plus, MusclePharm Combat Powder, and many others, including EAS.

There are many important elements with this product. Some of the core product features include:

  • You get 26g of high-quality protein
  • 6.3g branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) help muscles recover after strenuous exercise
  • 1.6g L-glutamine an amino acid that is a building block for muscle growth
  • Helps repair exercise-induced muscle damage after strenuous exercise
  • Only about 10 to 15% of meat’s protein is assimilated. If you are looking at an alternaProtein Powdertive to meat protein, whey protein powder is a viable option

Within each 5 lb tub you get 5 pounds of whey protein powder. The product canister combined with the powder actually weighs 5 pounds so you’ll get a little less than 5 pounds of actual protein powder.

You get two flavors with EAS, vanilla and chocolate. Also, both options come with the 2 pound or 5 pound option.

Side Effects, Health Benefits & Product Features

There are no side effects with this product. As with all bodybuilding supplements, though, you should use judgment and discretion. In other words, use moderation — follow the recommended usage guidelines and you will be fine.

As for health benefits, that is the primary reason why one would buy this protein powder. Some of the key benefits you will receive will be:

  • Highly assimilable protein to aid muscle recovery and muscle growth
  • The product help build lean muscle without added adipose tissue or fat
  • You meet your daily requirements for protein
  • If you weight train either as an amateur bodybuilder or as a power lifter, this will help you get your requirement of protein
  • It comes with 6.3 grams of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) that help muscles recover after weight training workouts. Thus, it is an excellent pre- and post-workout supplement.
  • It comes with 1.6g L-glutamine, which is a critical, building block amino acid necessary  for muscle growth with fitness or weight training enthusiasts

What is the powder made out of? The following is an ingredient list:

Protein Blend (Whey Protein Concentrate and Whey Protein Isolate), Cocoa, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose. Contains Milk Ingredients.

You’ll notice the whey protein isolate comes from milk. This is not vegan protein powder. So, purists or those who suffer from lactose intolerance might want to consult their doctor before using it.

How Much Should You Expect to Pay?

The price of EAS’ whey protein powder ranges from $48.14 to $65, depending on the sports nutrition supplement outlet. The cheapest offer I’ve found is Amazon.

You can buy it here at Amazon. Or, if you need more information, you can click here as well.

Does It Include a Guarantee?Product guarantee

Yes. Amazon, the retailer I recommend in part due to their sterling guarantee, guarantees all their products. If you are not satisfied by the product for whatever reason, you can return it and get your money back. EAS, too, guarantees their products but like most supplement companies, defers to the guarantee or return policy of the place where you bought it.

Tasty Beyond Belief!

Flavor Name: Chocolate Size Name: 5 lbs

This was a blind buy and boy has it been free of regret. I have tried at least 6 different kinds of protein shakes. SChocolate Powdero far, this is the best. The shakes that tasted good had so many additives that I could not drink more than twice a day because I would have exceeded my daily dose of the additives (chromium being the one that bothered me the most). Plus they were darn expensive. Some even had a strange aftertaste. Champion Ultramet, BSN Syntha 6 and GNC “super weight gainers” coming under this category. The ones that were pure whey protein smelled so bad that I could not drink them. I cannot remember the exact brand names.

But EAS whey protein manages to have the best of both worlds. It is “almost” pure whey protein (the only additives this has are artificial sweetners). Plus it mixes easily and tastes AMAZING (plus no aftertaste). And if all this is not enough, at a major wholesale store, I found a six pound bag of Chocolate flavor for $30.

Good Stuff

I’ve been using this stuff for about a year now. It’s the best bang for your buck when it comes to whey protein. Works great for a post-workout or right before bed shake. The taste isn’t great but it’s not horrible either. I usually do 4oz of water & 4oz of milk and it tastes just fine. BUT, you can by this exact product in chocolate or vanilla at Sams Club for $29 which is what I do.

I have been using this Whey Protein for years. The flavor has improved immensely. Love it and the prices are very competitive compared to GNC and others. No complaints. Use as directed.

I can also add my own personal review of this as I have used this product over a course of four months or so. The old formula used to be more effective than the current one. Their chocolate version used to taste absolutely great. It honestly tasted like chocolate cake mix. Not anymore. It is still a good protein powder formula, I think but the taste is no where near where it used to be.

Any Customer Complaints?

I used exclusively the EAS Myoplex, a forerunner to the current protein powder offerings, in the late 90s. At that time, I honestly thought it was the best whey protein powder on the market. It also taste great — except for their strawberry option. (I also didn’t care for the vanilla either.) The chocolate mass option literally tasted like chocolate cake dough — it was really delicious!

I actually enjoyed drinking it. But then, they changed the formula. Why I don’t know for they had a winner.

When Bill Phillips, the then CEO of EAS sold the company, there appeared to be a drop off in product quality.
