MusclePharm produces some of the best casein protein powder on the market. Is this product the best? An unbiased review.

Rating: 4 (out of 5)

Welcome to this review of the MusclePharm Casein Protein Powder product. Denver, Colorado-based MusclePharm is a well respected sports nutrition supplement company that is growing in popularity in the hyper-competitive market of protein supplements as well as other bodybuilding supplement-specific products.

MusclePharm is well known for its Combat Power whey protein powder product. This particular product, the casein protein powder option, is designed for post-workout, before-bed consumption so as to optimize a continually release of amino acids into the bloostream. That is essentially the purpose of the casein protein option as it is slowly digested with its aminos releasing as the person is asleep.

MusclePharm says, “Micellar Casein protein digests slowly, infusing valuable and powerful amino acids over the course of several hours. This makes it the perfect protein to ingest before bedtime. MP® uses only the highest quality of micellar casein available and some studies also suggest that this slow digestion process may help protect muscle tissue from breakdown over time.*

Let’s now get into this offering by MusclePharm and their casein protein powder supplement offering.

Features of MusclePharm Casein Protein Powder

One of the distinguishing factors of the MusclePharm line of sports supplements is that all of their products are manufactured in their own FDA registered facility that uses “current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP or GMP) thus assuring correct potencies, freshness, product NSF Certified for Sportquality and ingredient purity.

The GMP designation also ensures the non-inclusion of banned substances as well. MusclePharm has what’s called NSF Certified for Sport registered GMP certification. Again, that is highly desirable and an indicator of high product quality. These requirements are consistent with the published GMP regulation for dietary supplements as defined in 21 CFR § 111, which was published by the FDA in June 2007.

Moreover, their scientific team includes researchers from leading government health organizations and pharmaceutical companies, including GlaxoSmithKline®, Bristol-Myers Squibb®, Pfizer®, The National Institute of Health, The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the U.S. FDA itself.

Let’s talk about its flavors. The MusclePharm casein protein powder product comes in only three flavors but they are adequate for most. They are cookies ‘n cream, vanilla and chocolate milk.

This product comes in a 3 pound option only at this point in time.

Consumer Reviews & Testimonials

Here are a few testimonials so as to give an overview of how MusclePharm’s customers think about the product.

Great Stuff!

Flavor Name: Chocolate Milk

This is one of the better tasting Casein brands I have tasted. Regarding the cholesterol the other guy mentioned, it is a typo on the label, and no it is not 2000%! This guy is nuts, haha. I would suggest getting this in the chocolate milk flavor. Only reason it is not a 5 is because I found one Chocolate Whey Protein Powderother brand that tastes a little better. Best taste when you mix one scoop of this casein with one scoop of ON chocolate whey.

Actually, Very Low on Cholesterol
By Rafael Sang on September 13, 2013
Flavor Name: Cookies and Cream

I almost went for another brand when i saw one of the reviewers on amazon talking about the amount of cholesterol on this Protein Powder. But i did my research and it actually was a print error, instead of 5grams is 5miligrams of cholesterol, and its actually good cholesterol. That said, this is the most complete Casein protein out there, its the only one with amino acids, the lowest on sugar and carbs and i really like the taste (not the best taste, not the worst either).

Are there any customer complaints? Overall, this product is well received. One negative is that if you don’t like milk-derived protein powders, then this may not be for you as it’s primary ingredient is micellar casein.

Where Can I Buy It?

MusclePharm Casein Protein PowderYou can buy it here, but you are free to choose. I recommend Amazon as they tend to have the best prices. With so many vendors competing against each other, it means you the consumer get the best deals.

Is this the best casein protein powder? That’s debatable but this is a superb offering to be sure.

I hope that this review of the MusclePharm Casein Protein Powder has been useful to you.
